“Cleanliness is next to Godliness” the famous line said by Mahatma Gandhi emphasises that we must have the habit of cleanliness in order to have a healthy mind & body. Taking forward the idea of cleanliness Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, in 2014, launched “Swachh Bharat Mission”, the largest behaviour change programme in the world aims to maintain cleanliness at every level on roads, cities, rural areas and all public places.
To further promote this initiative, one of India’s largest media group, India Today Group had constituted Safaigiri Awards – A platform that will showcase and felicitate the pioneering efforts of those who are leading the change in cleanliness". It is an initiative to Celebrate Champions of Clean India.
It awards individuals/ organizations/ institutions who are working towards Clean India and have significantly contributed towards this. The “India Today Safaigiri Awards” in last 6 years had created an environment where people/ organizations started competing with each other over cleanliness.
